With Slumdog sweeping the Golden Globes, chances of it succeeding at the Academy have gone very high. Story about a slumdog who participates in the Indian version of “Who Wants To Be A Millionaire” to win over his childhood love, has been winning hearts across the globe. I myself loved the movie, and have watched it three times in the last 20 days.
I am even more happy for AR Rahman who won the award for best original score. I am a big big fan of Rahman, his music. There is magic in his voice, something that makes you completely forget everything else. His music touches the soul.
If you havent heard more from Rahman, I would recommend to listen to a few of his compositions. Roja, Swades, Jodha Akbar, Dil Se, Lagaan are amongst his great creations. If you get a chance, listen to “Vande Matram” his best piece of work in my opinion. Though its a prtiotic Indian song, but the music is beyond words. Even if you dont understand Hindi, you will still enjoy it as music transcends the barriers of language etc.
I am also happy to see 2 awards for Kate Winslet and best supporting actor for Heath Ledger who literally lived to character of “The Joker”. Absolutely no one could have challenged Heath Ledger for this category.
